Stable Foam has an exceptional safety record with ADL methods; no incidences of down-hole explosions and/or surface fires. This may be attributed to:

*Air will not enter the formation because of the low-pressure gradients exhibited by stable foam.

*The gaseous phase in the foam is encapsulated in a film of liquid, therefore any reasonable amount of formation gas is absorbed into the bubble.

*With the use of ADL stable foam, it has been proven that hydrogen sulfide gas to 10000 ppm can be neutralize by adding H2S scavenger to the foam. The gas is then trapped in the foam then slowly released and safely dispersed as foam returns and breaks out in the tank.

*At high pressures, nitrogen or non-gasses can be utilized for greater safety if flammable solvents are being used or are present in the well.
