ADL’s Future Horizon – Drilling and Fracturing

ADL has used our Stable Foam generated at surface to successfully complete more than twenty Cased Hole Foam Assisted drilling projects over the years. This was done with the foam replacing the mud pumps thus creating a more beneficial environment.

Leveraging on this success and the proven results of our Stable Foam generated at surface, we will be rapidly growing and expanding into the much needed area of the oil and gas industry.Considering the significant advantages of stable foam generation at surface and effective control and application, this dense, robust foam has proven alternative uses including use as a drilling medium, a safe alternative to toxic hydraulic fracturing fluid. ADL therefore anticipates significant widening of our menu of services and future applications as part of our imminent growth.

The oil and gas industry desperately needs safer, economic alternatives to traditional fracturing and drilling methods. ADL is continuously and ambitiously researching and testing Stable Foam within these applications. ADL’s R&D team is devoted to not just coming up with simple plug and play solutions, but we are working towards custom foam applications to meet specific industry needs.

Drilling Enhancement Services – Friction reducing Stable Foam, introduced at the drill bit interface instantly removes cuttings. In addition, the microscopic bubbles act like ball bearings on the active drilling surface. Stable foam, when applied to the drilling interface reduces drilling time and enhances penetration rate. A cooler drilling bit will provide a longer service life. The Stable Foam lubricant enhances drilling penetration using inert materials, not hazardous to the environment.

As noted, ADL’s proprietary stable foam system can be used effectively in conjunction current drilling practices. ADL has successfully used the stable foam generation to assist in drilling campaigns whereby the foam replaces the mud pumps and creates a beneficial environment:

  • Reducing costs of mud, water, downtime and transport.
  • Reduces loss of fluids to the formation.
  • Stable foam keeps expensive drill bits cooler allowing for longer life and minimizes the time and expense of replacements. It does this by removing cuttings in real time and providing a constant source of fresh fluids to the bit itself.
  • No need for new drilling equipment. ADL’s foam generators are “plug and play” with existing drilling equipment
  • Eliminates drilling damage to formation.
  • Environmental advantages include using 1/10th the water of conventional methods.

Hydraulic Fluid Enhancement – As an alternative to toxic fracturing fluids, ADL is continuously researching potential applications to provide formation penetration, carrying the proppant, as well as tolerating higher applied pressures without the harmful toxic environmental affects conventional fracturing creates. Fracturing – ADL’s proprietary Stable Foam system allows for a much more efficient manner in delivering fracturing sand and fluids into the formation. There are many advantages to using Stable foam as opposed to fracturing gels:

  • Less expensive than fracturing gels.
  • Stable foam will ensure breakdown. If gels don’t breakdown properly it can cause formation damage.
  • Using stable foam lowers the amount of chemicals and surfactants required.
  • Substantial savings of water use and environmental impact of cleanup is reduced.
